Monon Mukur Selected Poem

Whispers of Your Absence

Iftekhar Rahman

The night is quiet, yet your silence speaks,
My heart still wanders, my spirit seeks — your absence.

Your eyes once held the dawn’s first light,
Now shadows linger where dreams take flight — your absence.

I wait by windows where the moonlight stays,
Counting your footsteps in forgotten ways — your absence.

The wine of longing burns in my chest,
No thirst is quenched, denying me rest — your absence.

A garden of roses, yet none can bloom,
The air is heavy, the world is in gloom — your absence.

If love is a wound, let it never heal,
For pain becomes truth, and truth is real — your absence.

Even the stars confess their defeat,
The sky feels empty, the night incomplete — your absence.

So come, if only as a fleeting breeze,
And let my heart find its final peace — your absence.
